One thing you can do is extract the JSON object like # Find the content inside a markdown code block

return content[json_start:json_end]In your case, where you're returning an array of objects in the structured response, replace the braces with brackets. If you run into the API returning newlines in the json_start = content.find("[")

No clue, I'm just somebody who is also building on the API. I've just accepted that Perplexity's API is not dependable yet for structured responses and I've built in extraction logic that handles multiple cases. About 60% of the time I get a response in the correct schema and the other 40% have to be extracted and normalized. |

Hi @advany & @mreddimasi, have you looked at their usage tier documentation? To use structured outputs (json schema), you need to be in tier 3, which means you have to have to have paid at least $500 to their API (all time) to get access. Currently their API will silently ignore your |

@ldubrois I absolutely agree, I lost 2-3 hours last week. It should be written anywhere they reference parameters that are behind a payment tier. It made the launch of Sonar so frustrating, I immediately assumed that their API was broken & non-functional. It should be written next to the parameters in their API reference (they had a note there before when it was in private beta. Why did they remove it when switching to a tiered system?!), and their API should not be silently ignoring parameters if you don't have access. A simple error message telling me I don't have access in tier 1 or whatever would be perfectly fine with me if that's all they do. |

fing arseholes. My whole app relied on structured outputs. "Sam" the AI support told me to un nest the json request and took me another 2 hours making sure I wasn't going crazy. (They don't label the support emailing with you as AI either) I'm going to move to Google or something, that's bullshit that you can't get structured outputs and they don't even tell you. |
