Comparing mdnovel with novelibre

mdnovel is a variant of the novelibre application. While novelibre is intended to be used as an add-on to LibreOffice / OpenOffice, mdnovel is a standalone writing program.

The differences to novelibre

• All section content in mdnovel is Markdown-formatted.
• mdnovel comes with a Markdown section editor. The user is not supposed to export the text for editing.
• mdnovel saves the project in the JSON file format instead of the XML based .novx format.
• There is no connection with OpenOffice/LibreOffice.
• Document export is in Markdown or csv format.
• New projects can be created from Markdown-formatted Work-in-progress or outline.
• Features available as plugins for novelibre, such as the theme changer, the matrix view, the daily progress log viewer, the template manager, and Timeline support, are built-in in mdnovel. However, mdnovel does not handle plugins.
