Hi PgRouting Community,

I am Kunal Chandola, a third-year undergraduate in Civil Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, graduating in 2027, with a strong inclination toward computational problem-solving and open-source development. My background spans full-stack development, backend systems, and applied algorithms, and as a civil engineering student, I am particularly interested in geospatial systems, transportation networks, and graph-based routing problems. This naturally draws me to pgRouting, where spatial databases, graph theory, and real-world infrastructure intersect.

I have a deep appreciation for open-source communities—not just as a user, but as a contributor who values clean design, extensibility, and long-term maintainability. Through Google Summer of Code, I hope to meaningfully contribute to pgRouting by improving routing capabilities, performance, or usability, while learning from experienced mentors and understanding how mature open-source projects are designed, reviewed, and evolved. Ultimately, my goal is to grow into a technically rigorous open-source contributor whose work has real-world impact in geospatial analysis and intelligent transportation systems.
