Picking up player without dropping

If you have an open slot, how do you go about adding a player without dropping anyone?

It will very likely fail. I did not anticipate many folks to have a free spot on their bench. Is this common? Why drop ahead of time without picking someone else up?

I can look to get this working, but that would mean I'd have to drop someone in my own league for testing! If someone has throwaway fantasy accounts I can test with, I can try to develop from that.

In this scenario in a Yahoo league, I had placed a player in the IR slot therefore providing another open bench slot. I wouldn't imagine this being a very common issue but I guess it depends on how many leagues provide IR slots.

My Yahoo league now has IR slots due to Covid, so same scenario. Would like to request development for add/no drop. Also, for adding/dropping a New York defense, how does the code identify which is which?
