Communication error

I'm seeing an occasional "Communication error" with 1.1.5. Unfortunately, i can't reproduce it when I want to using "ab".

Each php request involves a crdt/counter get and increment. Retries is set to 1, connection pool size is 1. Riak backlog is set to 64 but according to our sysadmin, the load is really low (about 1 request per second).

Any suggestions to further diagnose?

It is expected to happen if the cluster is loaded, but at 1 req/s I can't imagine thats the issue.
What riak version are you running against?

Given the light load, could it be a problem with a stale connection?

Could be php_riak will reconnect if its keepalive timer has expired, but if the connection is stale or cut of by riak or a load balancer it will get communication error and then reconnect next time or right away if auto retry is on.
