Can you please retry on a more recent version of 8.2? The latest version is 8.2.25. Since 8.2.13 there have been fixes for bugs like these. So it's possible this is already resolved.
If it still reproduces on a modern version, can you please share the code? I suppose it's https://github.com/buddypress/BuddyPress-build/blob/master/bp-activity/classes/class-bp-activity-activity.php ? Note that we may need exactly what is on line 1834.
