getopt with required value should not assign the next --opt as value, if no value provided

Description

The following code:
php opts.php --foo --bar="hello"

<?php

$longopts = array( 'foo:' );
$options = getopt('', $longopts);
var_dump($options);

Resulted in this output:

array(1) {
  ["foo"]=>
  string(11) "--bar=hello"
}

But I expected this output instead:

array(1) {
  ["foo"]=>
  string(0) ""
}

that is tough because php getopt accepts inputs such as --key value similarly as regular getopt.

@devnexen Confusingly, this is only true for required args, but not optional ones (likely to avoid this exact ambiguity).

// $ php test.php --foo foo
var_dump(getopt('', ['foo::']));

array(1) {
  ["foo"]=>
  bool(false)
}

But I agree, removing this behavior would be breaking, and hence this requires a discussion on the mailing list and probably an RFC.

Edit: Just saw that this is documented.

Note: Optional values do not accept " " (space) as a separator.

So, I suggest to close this as a #wontfix.

Ok, let's close this then. I don't think this has a solution without also modifying the desired behavior. If you're still unhappy with that, please start a discussion on the ML.
