Problems converting KML to Flatgeobuf

Hi @tmcw,

I tried converting the Sentinel-2 tiling grid KML using ogr2ogr as well as with your online converter. Both succeed converting to Shapefile, but fail converting to Flatgeobuf. I opened this discussion to ask for advice and thought you might be interested.

Got it - Placemark uses the reference implementation of flatgeobuf in TypeScript, so likely any issues that occur would also occur there. Might be, as they say in that issue, that it contains a lot of GeometryCollections?

You can see how the KML is structured here as Placemarks with MultiGeometry/Polygon fields. However, as the issue describes these are tiles along the antimeridian containing an additional polygon. Here is also an updated conversion command using ogr2ogr.
