We got a huge and immediate spike in our traffic on plausible yesterday:
We have a huge, scrapable corpus, so we assumed that it meant that a a big scraper had begun attacking our site. We spent the day a bit confused because usually when this happens we notice it at the database layer too, and because we couldn't figure out who the scraper was!
Finally, I just looked at our web application (WAF) firewall and saw this:
Both of these charts show one-week of traffic grouped by the hour.
There's...no...jump in traffic? Huh?
Is it possible that the plausible.js script changed in a material way or that something else changed in Plausible that'd cause this massive jump? We're scratching our heads over here...
