Huntarr Application FAQ

General Questions

What is Huntarr?

Huntarr complements *arr setups (Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr) by automating searches for missing media or quality upgrades that RSS feeds might miss.

Is Huntarr a merger of previous separate Huntarr apps?

Yes, Huntarr is now a single, unified application. Users of older, separate containers should transition to this version.

How often should Huntarr be run after an initial library scan?

For upgrades, an initial full scan may suffice, as *arr RSS feeds often handle ongoing releases. Run Huntarr again after major library changes or adding new indexers.

Configuration & Usage

How does the "Missing Items to Search" setting work, and are there API call concerns?

This setting controls simultaneous item processing. High numbers can cause many API calls (e.g., 10 shows with 567 missing files = 567 API calls). A low setting (e.g., 1 show/cycle) is recommended to avoid rate limits/bans.

How does Huntarr handle upgrades? Does it only look at "cutoff unmet"?

Huntarr prompts your *arr app to search for upgrades. The *arr app uses its own logic (including quality profiles/cutoffs) for grabbing. Future updates might give Huntarr more targeting control.

What is the "reset interval" for?

The "reset interval" affects re-search frequency. The default is 168 hours or 7 days.

Where can the current Huntarr version be seen in the UI?

The Huntarr version is usually on the home screen, near the top.

Does the history page update in real-time?

No, the history page needs a manual refresh for updates.

Future Features & Requests

Is there a plan to add a pause button or timer to temporarily stop Huntarr?

A pause/timer feature is requested and planned for later.

Will season mode be expanded for upgrading items, not just missing ones?

Expanding season mode for upgrades (not just missing items) is a requested enhancement under consideration.

Will users be able to track the downloads and upgrades Huntarr finds?

Yes, this is a planned feature for down the road.
