@nanddeepn : Thanks for raising this. The cmdlet returns a value only when the theme has been applied using the PnP Provisioning Engine or the Set-PnPTheme cmdlet. It relies on a property bag entry, which may not always reflect the actual site theme. Could you confirm how the theme was applied on your site? Just to note, this cmdlet is intended for classic pages.
