Since MockCloudContainer is a class, there could technically be a subclass and its usage of createContainer would need to return an instance of the subclass, not MockCloudContainer. Of course, MockCloudContainer is final and doesn't subclass anything itself, so that isn't possible, but perhaps Swift does not diagnose that.

If you know of a workaround please feel free to PR one.

not really a workaround, just change Self to MockCloudContainer. compiles and satisfies protocol.

ah yeah, that works because the class is final. seems like it should work with the other syntax too, but if you want to PR that we would happily take it.
