Description
Describe the bug
If a Firefox window is left open and the OS goes idle the buttons in the header bar of Firefox no longer work such as bookmarks and browser plugin buttons. Right clicking no longer works in the browser either. Switching between tabs and actual browser window HTML are all fully interactive when this happens. The current fix is to close Firefox entirely when this happens and then reopen. Also to note this from a upgraded version of 20.04 version to 24.04 cosmic of POP!_OS.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior: In an upgraded version of POP!_OS from 20.04 - 24.04 cosmic
- Open Firefox and browse to a web page
- Leave the PC idle for 5-10 minutes
- Try interacting with any of the browser bar buttons, ex Sign In
- The button will light up, for example the "Sign In" button but the overlay window after clicking on it showing the text "Sync all your devices" does not work or even render.
- Any right clicking in the HTML area below the browser bar does not work, the "Save page as" and similar right click menu items do not show
Expected behavior
If the OS goes idle, coming back to the web browser should be able to perform all of the issues noted above. This wasn't an issue in 20.04 version of the OS.
Desktop (please complete the following information):
- OS: POP!_OS 24.04
- GPU: Nvidia 4090 RTX
- CPU: Intel 13900k
- Browser version: Firefox 146 Flatpak
Additional context
Just noting that this wasn't an issue in the pre-cosmic version of Pop. Also this issue with Manjaro is similar to the issue I've been experiencing, but their "fix" does not work in my case: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/firefox-buttons-address-bar-becomes-unclickable-using-gnome-wayland/177992/5
