Will COSMIC be optional or does it replace GNOME?

I was considering Pop OS and saw the COSMIC announcement.

I've tried every desktop there is, and frankly GNOME is the only desktop that has the options and extensions I want.

Will COSMIC be optional? Would I still be able to choose GNOME?

COSMIC DE will be the default DE on 24.04. 22.04 will still have Gnome, and users can install whichever DE they want on 24.04 after the fact. Installing Gnome on 24.04 will be a vanilla Gnome experience, as the old Pop Gnome extensions are not being updated (at least not by the Pop team) for newer Gnome releases.
