how to distinguish with vscode?

I have the latest version of VSCode installed on my local machine, and because I need to remotely connect to an older version of a Linux machine, I installed the VSCode portable version. However, on Windows 10, the two are easily confused. Is there a good way to distinguish between them?

I have the same problem, for older Linux versions specifically because of glibc support. One workaround is to rename the portable Code.exe (like Code-Portable.exe) and create a shortcut with a different name. That way it’s easy to tell apart from the regular VSCode install on Windows. You could change the icon too
