data_color custom domain

In the Python version, is it possible to set a custom (non-linear) domain? I saw in the R version that they have options for bins or other custom ranges. I would like to specify a list of values and associated colours that it would fill in between. A bonus would be if we could choose between interpolation of colours or just taking the flat colour from the adjacent value.
