Prioritize issues by popularity

It would be nice if one part that goes into how issues are prioritized would be popular demand as given by the number of reactions to them. This can be read out from this link. As of the writing of this post, the top 3 issues are

• Julia language as a native citizen? #3679 (141 reactions to the first post),
• Support for development containers #4691 (90 reactions), and
• Add notebook support for Quarto and RMarkdown with Chunk Output inline #5640 (70 reactions),

all of which having no due date attached to it.

I am happy to share that we do in fact take exactly that kind of data into account when we plan work. You can see work we've done ranked in the same way at this link. The top 3 issues by metric that we've completed are:

• Multiple consoles: support for running scripts in separate process #3173
• Data Explorer: Display column labels for R columns #2971

We're very interested in folks' thoughts on the issues that are open as well and appreciate the info people share on their use cases. We have outlined in those issues some of the current blockers and challenges for those particular feature requests.
