I couldn't get R to start on my PC in positron with the following error message

R 4.4.2 starting.
R 4.4.2 failed to start up (exit code 1073741845)

Things I have tried that didn't work:

• Install R using installer/rig
• Install Positron on system/user level
• Install Rust and Cargo

R starts on its own or in RStudio just fine.

I am quite clueless at this point on what to do with it. Please let me know what information I can provide to help solve this issue.

The problem does not seem to be with your R installation(s). Positron is finding it and, as you say, R works in other contexts.

Have you done what's recorded here in Windows pre-requisites?

If you’re using Windows, make sure you have the latest Visual C++ Redistributable installed.

Yes, I have. To make sure, I opened the installer again and it also shows I have it installed.
