Indent cursor to bracket

Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble figuring out how I can set it so my cursor automatically indents to the opening bracket within a function call, as it does in RStudio and the VSCode MS Python Extension.

Here is the behaviour I'm expecting, a new line after the first argument of a function call leads to the indentation aligning with the opening of the bracket.

But here's what it looks like in Positron using the Positron Python Extension.

The same happens in R in Positron, so I'm wondering if this is a general IDE setting which I have yet to configure, or have configured incorrectly?

Any and all ideas appreciated.

Hi @hlynurhallgrims, in VSCode, if I change the setting Python: Language Server from Default (or Pylance) to another value, such as Jedi, I see the indentation is not retained on the new line.

The desired Pylance-only behavior you're seeing appears to be based on whether python.analysis.autoIndent set to true. I will log an enhancement request for Positron from your information above.
