How to hide Help pane and reshow Variables after using Help? #8548

What is the proposed way of hiding the Help pane and reshowing variables pane after using Help? There is no button to close it, and there is nothing about hiding it in the documentation. Also there seem to be no shortcuts, at least by default, to bring back the variables pane. I spent close to half an hour finding how to reshow the Variables pane (maybe embarassing, but I did not remember the name of it), after finally succeeding by navigating "View" -> "Variables".

@pot-belly-mole , It looks like you may have changed layout at some point? You should be able to get the Session/Variables pane back by using the command palette:
I would also recommend updating to our latest release build. https://positron.posit.co/download.html |

Thank you, that works 🙏 Not sure how I missed it, probably searched with the wrong term. Yes, I changed the layout indeed, tried to go for a layout closer to RStudio. I also like how the help pane functions in Rstudio, but the proposed solution seems pretty good as well. |
