License question regarding scientific access to data #9250
-
I have a question regarding the license agreement. The scenario is as follows: A government agency grants access to researchers through a secure, remote connection to a Linux box, in cases where data can't be shared through other means. A researcher asks if said government agency could install Positron as the IDE on the Linux box to work with the data, instead of RStudio. I've read the Positron license and, surely, granting that request would be a direct violation of the first paragraph of the "Limitations" part of the license.txt. I just wanted to ask here to make sure that I'm reading that correctly. Furthermore (provided I'm not misunderstanding the license), is this a scenario likely to be get an exemption, or rather "Posit's agreement" to such a setup (as per the wording here: https://positron.posit.co/licensing.html). Or is this perhaps a scenario where such a request is essentially doomed? Many thanks, |
