More flexible in starting a new folder from template (can we say project in Rstudio language?) #9710

In Rstudio, you can create a "new project" either from scratch or from existing folder. In addition, it is also common to be bilingual, says working with R and Python in the same project. It would be helpful to be able to create venv/renv together. From my imagine, this step user can select multiple templates, not just one

Thanks for that feedback! 🙌 I think applying a folder template to an existing folder is somewhat out of scope of the new folder template feature that we have as of today, but we could take a feature request for that, to prioritize it for the future. We are definitely interested in expanding the templates we as Positron provide, and then moreover making templates extensible by, say, R packages, Python packages, and/or extensions; we're tracking that in #3248. We'd probably lean on that to provide a way for someone to set up a combined R and Python project with their own specifications about renv, uv or not, etc. |
