Python minimal version

I am trying to install a project with Python 3.6 but getting a

× failed to solve the pypi requirements of 'default' 'linux-64'
  ├─▶ failed to query python interpreter
  ├─▶ Can't use Python at `/home/shofmann/Projects/test/.pixi/envs/default/bin/python3.6`
  ╰─▶ Python 3.6.0 is not supported. Please use Python 3.8 or newer.

I couldn't find a place where this explicitly mentioned and don't really understand why there should be a minimal supported Python version? I can create a python 3.6.0 environment with micromamba/conda so I was expecting it to work with Pixi.
