Is there a difference between the KY-040 rotary encoder and a HW-040?

I ordered some KY-040s but they've got HW-040 written on them (apart from that they look the same) and I can't find any info on that part number. I've got them working with Minidexed and a couple of capacitors except that it takes exactly two clicks to change anything. So is this the parts fault or is it something else?

I am really not sure. When I wrote the instructions, I used the terms interchangeably. But maybe there is a difference I wasn't aware of.

My HW-040 works like this too unfortunately. RedFireAnt found a solution for it here in the comment section, but I don't know how easy it is to implement it in Circle.

Thanks for looking into this. The seller is sending me some replacement KY-040s so it should fix the issue for me. If I can help test them side by side let me know.

Actually I have the exact same problem: I ordered KY-040 but received HW-040 instead. And indeed, on rotation-movements, they only work every two clicks (on pushing a button, they do work as expected).

Is there a solution for this issus?

I created a pull request that should overcome this issue. I tested it and didn't see any draw backs so far.
