Enabling network and rotary encoder goes crazy

Hi,

So i tried this evening to enable ethernet/networking to use with rtpMidi/virtualLoopback. When doing so, i could see in the display that my rPI3b+ got assigned an IP. So far so good.

Now comes the weird part. My ky-040 rotary encoder suddenly doesn't want to [L]oad performances when i push it. Nothing happens when i do so.

Long push now will take me to "TG1", etc instead of doing the usual "home" thingy.

Editing the ini file to set "NetworkEnabled" to 0 and rebooting and everything is back to normal again.

Is this a known issue?

I suspect I have seen this but wrote it off as flaky push buttons.
I added a separate back button and it all worked so I never gave it another thought.

Thinking back I think "click" worked but not "doubleclick" or "longpress".

Can you try what I did to confirm ?

i tried your suggestion here, enabling only the click for ButtonActionHome, but it still wants to go to TG1 and nothing else.

It doesn't really matter what kind of permutation i try. As long as network is enabled, the button will basically only react on a longpress, taking it back to tg1.

It didn't help in my case. I tried the suggested settings but the issue remained the same.

However, i also tried to switch from ethernet to wlan and that actually made a world of difference. Suddenly these guys (just as in the src/template) started to work flawlessly:

Idk what makes this difference, but maybe there is something cancelling out other things in the code (just speculating).

All is well that ends well they say :)

I made it work by taking a slightly different route - going wlan instead of ethernet. With wifi enabled (making sure that the supplicant-file was defined properly) i could get sound + navigation working in the end.

I was a bit sceptical to say the least around wifi/midi latency but those worries scattered quite fast as i found out that in my case i only see 3ms latency when using my pi3 this way (not audioable for me at least, and very impressive).

Wifi is definately something i can continue to use instead of wired ethernet. But of course, it would be quite nice to maybe somewhere in the future be able to plug in the rj45 as well, without having the ky-040 go crazy doing so :)
