Store a patch

I am unable to find functionality to store a patch.
For example I modify some of the parameters of an existing patch (algo, etc), and now I want to save those changes to persist a reboot.
Am I missing it, or is that not implemented?

Hi Andrew, when saving performances, any modified patches are saved with them. Saving patches to Sysex banks isn't possible yet.

The most convenient way to edit patches on the miniDexed is via MIDI using Dexed. For example, I don't have any more patches on the SD card.

Can you clarify what you mean here? Is "Dexed" a reference to the VST?

I primarily use the standalone version of Dexed to create miniDexed performances.
With MiniDexed, you can access every parameter of a patch, but it becomes very cumbersome when you want to edit a layer with the same patches. With Dexed, you edit every TG that is on the same MIDI channel simultaneously.

Creating MiniDexed Performances using Dexed

To create MiniDexed performances, I mainly use the standalone version of Dexed.
While MiniDexed allows you to access every parameter of a patch, editing becomes quite cumbersome—especially when you're working with layers using the same patch. With Dexed, you can edit all tone generators (TGs) assigned to the same MIDI channel simultaneously, which is much more efficient.

Important: Correct MIDI routing in Dexed

Go to Options > Audio/MIDI Settings..., and configure the following:

Audio Output: Select any audio output (even if you don't intend to use audio output—Dexed’s MIDI interface won’t work properly without an audio device selected).

Active MIDI Inputs: Choose the MIDI input where your MIDI keyboard is connected.

MIDI Output: Select the MIDI output that is connected to your miniDexed (in this example, it's the MiniDexed itself).

To ensure parameter changes are actually sent to MiniDexed, you also need to configure the DX7 Out and DX7 Channel under the PARM section (bottom left of the Dexed interface):

DX7 Out: This must match the MIDI interface connected to your MiniDexed.

DX7 Channel: This must match the TG (tone generator) channel on your MiniDexed that you want to edit.

Additional Advantages of Using Dexed with miniDexed

• I have all my DX7 banks stored on my PC, which makes it much easier for me to keep track of everything and maintain a clear overview.

2. I load, for example, the template "128:005 - DoubleLayer" on the miniDexed.

3. In Dexed, I click on CRT, select a bank, and then send individual patches to the MiniDexed with a simple left-click.

This is just one example of how you can edit patches and create performances on the MiniDexed using Dexed.

How I would imagine an editor🧞‍♂️

I really enjoy working with Dexed; the layout is clear and easy to use.
What should a Editor be able to do:

• Open up to 8 instances of Dexed (with or without a sound engine).
• TGs must be assigned to the instances in the Editor via different MIDI channels.
• An editor matrix: Combine individual TGs in groups; this allows layered sounds from the same patches to be edited simultaneously.
• Mute or solo TGs.
• The performance parameters; if technically possible, otherwise you can work with templates or change them directly on the MiniDexed.
• Copy function from other TGs (e.g. copy TG1 to TG5) and from existing Performances (e.g. copy TG3 from Performance XYZ.ini to TG1)
