Is is it possible to remap X and Y buttons?

I've tried remapping X and Y to START and SELECT. However nothing happens in when I load up the updated config. Here is my settings, am I typing something wrong?

The way you have written it tries to map the non-existent X and Y buttons of the GBA to the start and select buttons respectively.
You have to write it the other way around to fix that.
like this:

START=X
SELECT=Y
