Game sometimes just doesn't save

I'm having this issue with Pokemon Emerald.

Game sometimes just doesn't save, even if saved multiple times in the session. I even get the impression that the save gets replaced by an older one.. It's hard to figure what actually triggers that since this issue is very sporadic..

It's not triggered by low battery and h2testw doesn't show any issue with the sd card

I have noticed it is consistent for me in all games upon battery death.

I don't know whether I need to open a new issue, but that's what I came here for.

When the battery dies instead of manual shutdown, any saved progress since last boot is lost. I have to remind myself to power off my device to ensure I don't lose save data.

I have not noticed any issues with saving in any games I have played thus far, otherwise.

edit I just found the same issue posted earlier. I don't know whether it applies to your circumstance, but worth considering. Best of luck!

oaf/libn3ds currently does not shutdown the system gracefully when the battery level reaches 2% for example like the stock OS does. When the battery level is too low the MCU will force shutdown the system and there is no time left to write the save file.

This will be fixed later. Until then turn your 3DS off as soon as you see the blinking red lights or plug in the charger.
