channel link not working

Hi there, wondering if there's any way to get Telepathy to work when the link to the group is non textual (e.g. https://t.me/+tP96M11ZBDcwMDY8), tried with and without the + sign, as well as with the text name of the group with no spaces, no luck. The authorised account is part of the group.
