How to add points of interest to OSM basemap tiles.

I am attempting to create a map with pmtiles with points of interest data from Overture Maps. I have the place data in geojson format (as points). I would like to add this data to a pmtiles file so that it displays when the map is zoomed to a certain point. Is it possible with Tippecanoe or some other tool to start with the OSM basemap extract from protomap builds and integrate points from a geoJSON file?

we have not yet added Overture places as a alternative data source for the POIs layer, however you could overlay the Tippecanoe-created Overture POIs documented here: https://docs.overturemaps.org/examples/overture-tiles/

I apologize for my lack of experience with map tiles, but do you have any more specific instructions on how to do this? I am using mapLibre and serving pmtiles locally. Is there a way I can integrate the POI layer into the pmtiles archive? If so, how?

You can use two pmtiles, so two sources in the MapLibre sources object of the style object.
