How to notify frontend if the backend exchanged the pmtiles file?

I'd like to be able to exchange the backend *.pmtiles file while the frontend actually is using it. How does this work. If I understand correctly pmtiles has to reaload the tile-chain somehow to know the correct offsets for a requested tile. will this just work or is anything required in the frontend to "reload" the tile-chain?

This should "just work" already if the backend storage system serving the PMTiles supports ETags, nothing is required in the frontend to reload. But HTTP does not push events to know when changes happen, you need to either manually trigger tile reloading events in the frontend, or use Cache-Control headers.
