No video output for Cairo demo

I built the ps3toolchain and the cairo demo package under Debian 12. The package installs OK but when I run it I just get a black screen. Because its a demo of a graphics library I expect to see something drawn to the screen.

The PS3 I installed the package on is a CECHG03 running system software 4.88 / Evilnat 4.88.
