Is Redis support production ready?

Hi! I'd like to implement cache system using the requests library for a microservice architecture. We already have a Redis backend built into our architecture and I would like to know if the Redis backend is production-ready.

Also, does this work with the requests async (from requests import async) feature? I don't see why it wouldn't, but considering the relative level of caution advised in the redis docs, I wanted to get clarification. I'd be happy to contribute to testing and improving the project if it's mostly production ready.
