EPERM Motor Error

I am currently trying to my pybricks code, but I am getting a EPERM Motor busy error.
(The code, that updates the motor speeds)

            wait(100)

            if self.leftWheelSpeed == -1: self.leftWheel.brake()
            elif self.leftWheelSpeed != self.previousLeftWheelSpeed: self.leftWheel.run(self.leftWheelSpeed)

            # --- Right Wheel ---
            if self.rightWheelSpeed == -1: self.rightWheel.brake()
            elif self.rightWheelSpeed != self.previousRightWheelSpeed: self.rightWheel.run(self.rightWheelSpeed)

            self.previousLeftWheelSpeed = self.leftWheelSpeed
            self.previousRightWheelSpeed = self.rightWheelSpeed

But when adding a print statement everything works fine. But also when I am running this code:

from pybricks.pupdevices import Motor
from pybricks.parameters import Direction, Port

left = Motor(Port.B, positive_direction=Direction.COUNTERCLOCKWISE)
right = Motor(Port.E, positive_direction=Direction.CLOCKWISE)

while True:
    left.run(500)
    right.run(500)

I am getting no errors at all (after running it multiple times in a row). I also reinstalled the firmware.

If anyone could help I would be very grateful.
