Changes from PR #2618 ("Drop assertion on Google streaming") not present in main branch

Description

I noticed that the changes from PR #2618 (#2618), which drops the assertion on Google streaming, were marked as merged. However, when checking the current main branch, I do not see the changes introduced by this PR present in the codebase.

Could you please investigate why the changes are missing from main despite the PR being marked as merged? It's possible there was a merge issue, a force push, or an accidental revert. Please advise on next steps to ensure the intended changes make it into main.

@anushshetty51 I'm not quite sure what you mean, that PR removed assert candidate.content.parts is not None and added parts = candidate.content.parts or [], and that's exactly what we have on main:

so basically i am saying about the line no 575 : assert chunk.candidates is not None
so can u please handle this to not return assertion @DouweM

@anushshetty51 OK so this is unrelated to the PR you referred to.

I agree we shouldn't have that assert though, I'll create a PR to fix it.
