manylinux currently plans to drop CPython 3.13 free-threading builds on 2026-05-05
CPython 3.13 free-threading was experimental & necessary to get the ecosystem going but, now that CPython 3.14 has been released, it might be time to drop the experimental one. It's also worth noting that free-threading fixes are not always backported in CPython 3.13 given its experimental status.
The date chosen by manylinux is both a 5 months notice to gather feedback early on and maps to CPython 3.15.0b1 release date.
This issue is mostly created for the manylinux one to get more visibility as it will have a direct impact on cibuildwheel.
