Using Astral's UV in place of pip

I saw on my feed that Ofek starred Astral's UV project, which is a drop in replacement of pip. Are there plans to use UV in place of pip to speed up those tasks?

Man I tore my hair out trying to debug a pip issue until I finally used strace to discover the hidden env hatch-static-analysis was using uv which I never heard of before.

I know I need to RTFM, but is there a pip/uv migration guide? Specifically I need the equivalent of:

export PIP_CERT="/Users/Shared/Documents/my_company_vpn_mim_cert.pem"
export PIP_VERBOSE=3
