I think you're referring to ImageDraw.textsize(). https://pillow.readthedocs.io/en/stable/deprecations.html#font-size-and-offset-methods explains that ImageDraw.textbbox() or ImageDraw.textlength() can be used instead. As this link explains, the old method actually gave different values.
