Why would I need to call gradle task quarkusBuild explicitly?

Is there a reason why I would call quarkusBuild in a Quarkus Gradle project explicitly? Isn't it called implicitly by the build taks?
If not, what is the difference?

build does depend on quarkusBuild (through assemble).
