Is there a way to get a pdf render of only certain content?

Description

I have a Quarto project for a lecture course that consists of a folder of lecture notes, slides (reveal slides to be used to present) and so on. As well as the html for the course site, I would like to be able the render the notes folder as a pdf so that students can use this and annotate it themselves. Is there any way to select only the notes folder for rendering?

I guess I could do quarto render notes --to pdf to render just the pdf by hand, but I was looking for a workflow that builds the html and the accompanying pdf at once. Thanks!

Thanks. The first one (conditional rendering) is really for conditional content within a file, right? The last one (render targets) seems to be to choose files but not conditionally.

These are not mutually exclusive.

But neither is what I want, as far as I can tell. I want to conditionally render certain targets. Perhaps one way is to add to a notes/_metadata.yml file overriding the format field? Does that sound like it would work?

Create profiles with different targets and formats.
You can also set directory metadata, if your documents are in different directories.

It's very hard to say as no clear depiction or working example of your project structure was provided.

It has been said in discussion above, but I believe Quarto Project Profiles could be useful, so putting link for easier reference:

Profiles are way to modify the rendering configuration, and so behavior, of a project.

Basically, this would mean you have one way of rendering (one profile) that would be to render only the notes to pdf, in a specific output drectory.
