Is there a way to use a version of Typst different from the one shipped with Quarto?

Hi!

I was wondering if it was possible to choose which version of Typst to use. For example, I want to try the next version of Typst (0.14), but I built it from source, so I'm not sure how to tell Quarto to use that one instead.

Note that the cli typst compiler I compiled is in my PATH, so I think Quarto "could" use it instead if there was an option like "--use-default-cli" for example.

Using QUARTO_TYPST with any Typst version other than the one embedded in Quarto CLI is unsupported. If you encounter issues with custom versions, the Quarto team won't be able to assist with troubleshooting.

To be fair, I did, but the title seemed different from my original topic. But the answer I needed was definitely there.

The environment variable is not documented for now because using it, basically means "you are on your own".

Note that one thing maybe safer to do is to use keep-typ then render the intermediate file with your other Typst.
This way you don't take the risk to forget about having set the variable and breaking Quarto.
