Let sidebar automatic listing respect sorting options

Description

In pages with a listing, one can specify criteria by which to sort the items to be listed. I find that when one attempts to specify sorting criteria for automatic listing of sidebar items, the relevant material in _quarto.yml, e.g.,

sidebar:
    - id: none
      style: "docked"
      background: light
      collapse-level: 2
      contents: posts
      sort:
        - "date desc"

processes without error, but the sorting option is ignored. See this repo for a minimal example.

Which version of Quarto are you using?
Also where did you see sort as a valid key under sidebar? (see https://quarto.org/docs/websites/website-navigation.html#side-navigation)
So Quarto does respect the options it knows.

It shows up in Version 1.4.502 today. I did not see sort as a key under sidebar. This issue is classed under Feature Requests; it is not a bug report.

The feature would be useful for automatic listing on the sidebar of such things as blog posts, where one would like the posts sorted by date, perferably from the most recent. (It seems that if automatic contents are possible on sidebars as well as in the main body of a listin gpage, then sidebars could be made to support the same sorting options as for a listing page.)

Also your title imply a bug or regression.

If this is really a feature request then could you please make it appears as such? For example:

As in listing, it would be great to have sorting ability in sidebar component.

Which is not at all the same as

Sorting works in listing but does not in sidebar.
