On another note, I wanted to ask that if I want to add a new translation (let's say bengali) how do i do it?

As for new translation, I don't think we accept contribution of new translation. From the Android app:

translation, tafsir and Arabic data come from quranenc and King Saud University. a small number of translations also come from tanzil.

Ahh, understandable. In that case, is there anyway for us contributers to add translations from tanzil? Because I wanted a specific famous translation of Bengali, which is available in Tanzil, to be added in the app. Thanks.

Me neither, I don't even know where to get the data. We probably want to ask our friends on the web app.

@osamasayed do you know where to get the indopak data to integrate it into the mobile app? I know we might not wanna put the data in the open source repo, but at least can you share a page or 2 and whether it's using font or images for rendering.

I dug into the web app nextjs repo - they use font rendering, not images. The IndoPak text comes from the API (text_indopak field) and gets rendered with a Nastaleeq font from tarteel.ai.

endpoint - GET /api/v4/quran/verses/indopak or word_fields=text_indopak
Font: IndoPak Nastaleeq font (indopak-nastaleeq-waqf-lazim-v4.2.1.ttf)

I believe this ios app uses pre-rendered page images, not fonts ( i may be wrong) @mohamede1945

So we would need IndoPak images and word frame database but I am not sure where to source them from. Fonts won't work as implementing font-based rendering similiar to the web app would be an extreme overhaul i think

@mohamede1945 we have this in the Quran for Android app but it's bundled as a separate apk (we plan on combining it into the main app at some point in sha' Allah). I can provide the data, but it needs the new line by line approach we discussed earlier.

I think what @ahmedre suggested would be the way to go. This would actually help us add multiple mushafs (Madani 1439 and 1441) not just IndoPak. Let's start with these 2 Mushafs first and then add IndoPak afterwards.
