Share cache response across checks?

Apologies if there is an easy way to accomplish this or it's redundant; I tried to comb through both the open and closed issues to see if there was anything similar.

In order to reduce the number of requests I make to my Redis cache, I am trying to see if I can share the response from one cache call across multiple Rack Attack checks (specifically, safelist, blocklist, and track).

My current process flow is roughly as follows:

1. Check to see if the IP address is safelisted in the cache store

    Rails.cache.read("RackAttack-#{req.ip}") == 'safe'
end

2. Check to see if the IP address is blocklisted in the cache store

blocklist('cached blocklist') do |req|
    Rails.cache.read("RackAttack-#{req.ip}") == 'block'
end

3. Later on, in my controller, check to see if the IP address is tagged as suspicious

def check_for_suspicious_ip
    if Rails.cache.read("RackAttack-#{req.ip}") == 'suspicious'
        # Do something which will withhold certain sensitive elements from the page
    else
        # Load all the elements of the page
    end
end

The above process flow entails 3 cache store requests for the same value. I was hoping to get this down to a single request in my RackAttack initializer:

1. Make a call to the cache store to retrieve the safe/block/suspicious value
2. Use that value from within the safelist check
3. Use that value from within the blocklist check
4. Use that value from within a yet-to-be-coded track check, where I could then subsequently pick it up in my controller via request.env['rack.attack.matched']

Is there an existing solution the gem supports, e.g. the equivalent of setting an instance variable in a method at the top of the initializer? Thanks in advance!!
