CI Testing Improvements #92
Description
Currently linting stylistic testing is done on the repository which helps save a number of issues. However, it doesn't validate template generation in any form. As there are currently two test templates, we should build a testing suite around template generation to ensure consistent results. This is even more critical given that metadata generation has a few permutations that need to be validated. It would also help ensure python 2/3 compatibility until 2 support gets dropped.
