Motion sensor no longer reporting to Home Assistant but controls GDO light OK

Hi,

I've been using a ratdgo v2.5x for about 2 years now with my Chamberlain GDO (myQ PN 050DCTWF). It's a Security Plus 2.0 model with the yellow learn button.

Sometime in the last 3-6 months the motion sensor has stopped reporting motion to Home Assistant. The sensor appears to be working because the light on the opener turns on when passing the wall button.

I downgraded ESPHome to 2025.9.0 and tried building the firmware at this commit 5ae6458 to see if I could find a working version without luck.

I am certain this worked around August 2025 as I had installed a Zwave switch in the garage and setup automations using the motion sensor to control this Zwave switch.

The Chamberlain GDO has never been on my WiFi so there shouldn't been any surprised firmware updates or the like.

I've attached logs of me opening/closing the door & messing with the obstruction sensor. Probably not much of interest in there.

How can I debug this issue? Are there any things I should look into first?

Mine also doesn't work. I don't know if it ever did, but I never have any motion triggers on this device in HA.

Well... I pulled out my oscope and took the wall button off the wall to see if I could capture some packets and the damn motion sensor started working again.

So maybe this comes down to flaky wiring. I can't really explain why only the motion was malfunctioning but things get weird when there's bad power/ground.

I'll keep any eye on it, but good news. It seems unlikely this is a firmware issue.
