HK fw 3.4.2 doesn't save board settings

Want to use HK fw but had problems saving my settings on HK fw 3.4.2. Nothing would save, not even a user/pw change. SSID and password would save, but wifi specs would not display. Error shown in attached screencapture.

Loaded ESPhome fw = settings saved, and all seemed ok.

fw installed using MacOS 26.2 chrome Version 143.0.7499.170 (Official Build) (arm64) using USB single serial port using an Apple braided USB-C to USB-C cable

You are showing a "crash count" of 1 (way at bottom of page) which is very odd on 3.x firmware. Please click on show system logs, then click on crash log. There is probably not much there, but what I want you to do is click on the clear crash log button so we can start clean.

Now reboot and repeat your test... then go back to show system logs and copy/paste the main log here please.

Oh... and it wouldn't hurt to set log level to debug (but don't go as far as verbose).

I've found the issue. HK firmware 3.4.2 cannot handle packets that transmit forward and backward slashes in the SSID. See previous log below.

Unifi network confirming high Tx retry rate of 32% with the logged packet collisions seen below using SSID named:

[forward slash][backward slash[forward slash][backward slash] 2.4GHz

The slashes form a stretched "M". HK fw 3.4.2 works fine using an SSID without forward or backward slashes. Seems like a bug since other HK devices work fine. Solvable?

Have you tried a different SSID? The log suggests successful connection to WiFi, it gets a IP address.

What happened after the last log msg? I see a reset, was that something you triggered? The last two log messages show us sending current status to the browser.

Btw… ieee standard may permit any UTF8 character, but Cisco has a number of characters they explicitly state should not be used, including the slash… https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-mobility-knowledge-base/characteristics-of-ssids/ta-p/3131765
That of course may be Cisco only restriction, and not an excuse if this turns out to be something fixable in our code.

I joined two different SSIDs and recorded the debug logs after boot. See anything? I agree, ratgdo gets the same IP address on each SSID.

I am thinking that the problem might be browser-side, ie in the Javascript somewhere. Can you open up the javascript console on your browser please and observe that during a browser reload.

Bingo. Okay, let me figure out what the JSON spec has to say about special characters in strings... I'm guessing the backslash is messing things up.
