I believe you don't need to set it. Although it's been a few years since I've fiddled with those drivers so I could be misremembering.

Unfortunately no—and I don't have easy access to the table I built anymore. I can try and sanity-check your wiring though if you send me a photo of what you have.

The wiring looks right to me—although, I'm not able to confirm which one of your leads has the 1k resistor in series...just double-check that you connected the AUX2 header on the RAMPS board correctly with this diagram.

Seems like your npm version is too new...take a look at #28 for how to downgrade.

Hmm so seems like arduino-cli didn't install. I wonder if there's a firewall/etc where you're at that stopped the download process. Can you try running these commands directly to install it?

Sometimes, your web browser will try to use https even for IP addresses, which my software doesn't support. Try and explicitly put http:// at the beginning of the URL, so something like http://192.168.X.X (or if you have MDNS enabled on your router then http://sandtable.local).

Also, can you double-check that you've followed the NGINX setup instructions correctly (scroll down to Step 6 in the build guide)? You can run sudo systemctl status nginx to see if the process is actually running, or if there's an error. And you can run sudo journalctl -u nginx.service to get the full logs (which might help you diagnose the error).

Hopefully that helps...if you're stuck feel free to post some more screenshots/log outputs here and I can help debug!

You'll want to edit this line to match the number of LEDs in your strip. And hopefully resolving the arduino-cli install issue you found earlier also solve this one!

Oh and if you're running into stability issues there are some fixes in #57 that might help you out as well!

Hey, sorry for going offline for the past two weeks. Let's resolve these issues one-by-one:

Webserver not launching

It seems like npm install didn't work correctly. I only see a screenshot from above where you ran the command from the root directory, instead of within the Website folder. So, let's create a baseline for ourselves—would you mind running the following commands in your terminal, and paste the whole output?

cd ~/Documents/Sand-Table/Website # Go to the correct directory
rm -rf node_modules # Let's purge your installed packages and start from scratch
node -v # Should be 14.X
npm -v # Should be 6.14.X
npm install # Run the actual install command, look out for any errors
npm run prod # Ok, now the web server should launch given that the previous commands didn't have errors

Arduino-cli wasn't installed

Can you confirm that arduino-cli is correctly installed (see this reply from above)?

Another possible issue: check if python2 is installed on your Raspberry Pi. Newer versions of Debian don't come with Python2 installed; however, one of the libraries used by the website still uses it.

If which python2 doesn't yield a path, then try installing it with sudo apt install -y python2.

Ok, your npm version is too new. You need to be on 6.14.7. Follow #28 (or just run npm install -g [email protected]). Then, try running the install steps again.

For arduino_cli, I need more information to diagnose the issue. Can you run the following and post a screenshot:

Ah nevermind I see the issue. The script assumes your username is pi. I pushed a change that should fix this...just git pull and re-run the script.

You will need to modify the systemd service file you created /etc/systemd/system/sandtable.service to reflect your chosen username of sandtable.

So looks like the arduino-cli issue is solved! The current software assumes you're using WS2812 LEDs so you won't need to change anything. Otherwise, you could modify the code in the repo and just upload it with the flash_light_strip_controller.sh script.

Ok, a few things to try:

1. Can you check if /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default still exists? The instructions in the build guide state to delete it.
2. Also, just to confirm, are you attempting to access the website while npm run prod is running? Once you Ctrl+C the process the web server will stop running, of course (until you set up the systemd service, then it'll launch automatically).
3. One more thing: let's make sure that the server itself is running on the local port. In a terminal, type curl http://127.0.0.1:3000. Do you get an html page that looks like it would be from the sand-table website, or does it look generic or return an error?

Also, can you verify that /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/node is correctly set up as a symlink to the file you pasted the output of earlier?

Yes that is somewhat concerning; although, I think it doesn't really matter where the repo is cloned. Based on your screenshots, it's in /home/pi/Sand-Table. Make sure that the paths in /etc/systemd/system/sandtable.service match this (and do not use the path that references Documents.
