Indeed, we're aware of this news. But here's why we're continuing our efforts on LSP4IJ today:

1. LSP4IJ implements much more of the LSP specification than LSP support from JetBrains, for example, LSP4IJ supports codelens, inlay hints, and pull diagnostics. See https://github.com/redhat-developer/lsp4ij/blob/main/docs/LSPSupport.md for more information on what LSP4IJ supports. But I trust JetBrains to implement these features (but when?).

2. LSP4IJ provides free LSP support for ALL JetBrains products, such as IJ Community and CLion. If you want to provide an IJ plugin to embed your language server that can be used by any JetBrains product, LSP4IJ is the solution.

3. LSP4IJ provides LSP support that allows it to be used in an IJ plugin (like JetBrains' LSP support) but also allows you to configure your language server without developing a single line of code (without an IJ plugin). See https://github.com/redhat-developer/lsp4ij/blob/main/docs/UserDefinedLanguageServer.md. Not everyone has the ability to develop an IJ plugin and wants to use a language server like the one VsCode provides. Version 0.140 will provide the ability to describe an installer.json file that allows you to install a language server. This installation description is declarative and can be modified by the user. If you're interested, I can provide more information.

4. LSP4IJ is also very well integrated with TextMate, allowing it to have the same behavior as VsCode.

7. We use LSP4IJ in advanced mode in https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/13234-quarkus-tools because we try to provide the best support for Quarkus, which is based on language servers that we also use in vscode https://github.com/redhat-developer/vscode-quarkus Points 1) (IJ Community support) and 2) (we need codelens, inlayhint) are one of the reasons why we cannot currently use JetBrains' LSP support.
