Name conflict on PyPI

badfish assigned to another package on PyPI:

https://pypi.org/project/badfish/

This makes Linux packaging problematic as it can lead to conflicts in the installed locations.
Is it possible to use a different package name, eg. quads-badfish or redhat-performance-badfish
and also put the package on PyPI or block the namespace on PyPI to prevent name collisions?

Thank you for raising this. We have reached out to the owner of the project @harshnisar and he has yet to look into this. Waiting for his input.

It appears the best course of action is to be granted owner status of the old badfish repository and with clear documentation and guidance convert it for our project at the consent of @harshnisar which we've gotten at least via email.

He seems to be very busy and time-limited to follow-up further with the Pypi changes for this but hoping he can find some time to help us move this to fruition.

Going to close this out, we were unsuccessful in gaining the pypi namespace so we'll go with a new one proposed in the packaging request. Thanks for filing this.

@harshnisar a very sincere thank you for getting back to us. Real life comes at you fast and we wish you the absolute best and really appreciate coming through with this.

@bkmgit we will be modifying our Fedora package submission to go back to the original name once we've refactored all references and generated a new RPM spec and src. Thanks again!
